50 Views In: Losing Control of the Narrative (On Purpose)
I hit 50 views this week.
Fifty isn’t a big number. It won’t get me on anyone’s “creators to watch” list. But it’s the first real proof that this blog — this weird, honest mashup of psychology and power dynamics — isn’t just a document sitting on my hard drive anymore. It’s something 50 actual people chose to read.
That feels worth sitting with for a second.
The irony isn’t lost on me
I write about control. About the psychology of dominance, submission, trust, and the careful negotiation that happens before anyone gives up power to someone else. And yet starting this blog has been an exercise in losing control — publishing before I felt ready, sending words into the world with zero guarantee anyone would read them, let alone understand what I was going for.
That’s the thing nobody tells you about putting yourself out there: it requires the same vulnerability I write about. You don’t get to control how you’re received. You just have to trust the process — and the audience — enough to try anyway.
What I’m actually doing here
CandySays exists because I kept noticing a gap. On one side: serious psychology, locked behind academic language and journal paywalls. On the other: kink and dominatrix content, often stripped of any real insight into why power exchange works the way it does, psychologically. I’m a psych student who wants to become a dominatrix — not in spite of studying the mind, but because of it. This blog is where those two things meet.
That’s a niche. Niches are slow to build. Fifty views is what “slow build, but building” looks like in practice.
